China News Service, Hubei News, June 22 (Li Chenni Chang, Huang Mingyin) – With a simple click of the mouse by the control center operator, the intelligent rock drilling robot jointly developed by Xingfa Group and Kaishan Heavy Industry began drilling on June 21 at the Shukengping Phosphate Mine in Xing Mountain, Hubei. According to a Xingfa Group spokesperson, this is the first time an intelligent rock drilling robot has been used in a non-coal underground mine in China.

Rock drilling is the first and most crucial step in underground mining. Although the previously used rock drilling rigs have mature technology, they rely heavily on personnel, require a large number of operators, and pose challenges for safety risk management.

In recent years, Xingfa Group has invested nearly 400 million yuan in collaboration with domestic research institutions, universities, and equipment manufacturing companies to continuously advance the localization, automation, and intelligence of large-scale mining machinery. A series of intelligent equipment, such as automatic anchor bolt rigs and unmanned intelligent mining trucks, have been put into use.

The newly deployed intelligent rock drilling robot has overcome several technical challenges, including millimeter-level precision in positioning and high-accuracy scanning control, joint loss and angle correction technology. It has achieved a series of advanced technological breakthroughs in areas such as autonomous positioning, AI artificial intelligence, network communication, and autonomous scanning recognition.

Wang Song, Technical Director at Xingfa Group's Shukengping Phosphate Mine, introduced that the intelligent rock drilling robot allows one person to remotely and automatically control three or more drilling rigs simultaneously. The robot features one-click start and stop, as well as one-click intervention capabilities, significantly reducing the number of drilling and blasting personnel needed underground, lowering production costs, and enhancing mine safety.

"The development and application of the intelligent rock drilling robot is another significant achievement in technological innovation and new productivity for Xingfa Group and Kaishan Heavy Industry," said Peng Yali, Deputy General Manager of Xingfa Group Co., Ltd. Within this year, Xingfa Group plans to implement intelligent rock drilling robots in all of its mines.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Shandong University of Science and Technology, Song Zhenqi, stated that technologies like the intelligent rock drilling robot break the monopoly of foreign technology barriers and will make significant contributions to achieving intelligent mining in metal and non-metal mines across the country.
